The decision, according to a statement by State Education Commissioner Professor Uche Eze, was made on Monday at a meeting between the ministry and key stakeholders in the sector.
Prof Eze said that all schools in the state have been advised to ensure full compliance with the NCDC guidelines for containment of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), noting that “the Department of Education will be engaged in ongoing compliance monitoring when schools reopen.”
The Education Commissioner added that “it was also decided that, in order to facilitate student / pupil involvement, all higher education institutions, primary and secondary schools are encouraged to activate their training programs.”
As a result, the government of Enugu State, in support of its commitment to containing the second wave of COVID-19, has suspended the annual prayer session held at Government House, Enugu, to begin work on the New Year, when all civil servants are invited to return to their duties in different offices, strictly complying with the rules of the NCDC.
