The suspect dressed in Nigerian army camouflage went to the police division and performed as a Nigerian army soldier to secure the release of his friend in police custody.
A fake 24-year-old soldier, Emmanuel Dominic, from the Tungan area of Minna, was arrested by the Niger State Police Command while attempting to release his friend into custody.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Wednesday, November 17, said the suspect was arrested by agents from the Maitumbi Division.
The PPRO said the suspect dressed in Nigerian army camouflage, went to the police division on October 27 and performed as a Nigerian army soldier with the No. 05313 attached to TRADOC, Minna to secure the release of her friend in police custody.“During interrogation, the suspect was discovered to be a fake soldier and later arrested and later confessed to being a boy from the Minna army barracks. He also claimed that the uniform in his possession belongs to his late father who he said was a soldier”Said Abiodun.
Artifacts recovered by the suspect during the investigation include; a carved wooden pistol, two axes, a switchblade, two kit bags, two green OG pants, an army camouflage vest, a shirt, a boot, a cap and a walking stick.
The suspect is also suspected of robbing victims in and around Minna with the carved wooden pistol, switchblade and ax.
The case is under investigation while the suspect will be sued in court soon after the investigation is concluded, added DSP Abiodun.
