A well-known drug dealer has been arrested in Kebbie State.
The suspected fake security officer, Basiru Ibrahim, who specializes in illegal drug trafficking from the Republic of Benin through Lagos to Sokoto state, was caught carrying 280 kilograms of skunk and diazepam in the northwestern state.
The suspect was arrested at around 8:30 pm on April 3 while transporting 140 kg of skunk and another 140 kg of diazepam in his personal Peugeot 406 sedan with registration number KSF 60 BE in Lagos at the Kingakwai checkpoint, Kamba, Dundee.
According to NDLEA State Commander Peter Odaudu, the 38-year-old suspect’s claim that he is a senior official in the Sokoto State government is under investigation. Odaudu said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed three times in the past to drug trafficking from the Republic of Benin for a well-known drug dealer known as Queen.
As a result, another smuggler’s attempt to smuggle 2,800 bottles of various cough syrups to Abuja was thwarted by NDLEA agents in Sulja, Niger, where they found 1,020 bottles of CS cough syrup with codeine, 390 bottles of CSP codeine cough syrup and 1,390 bottles Barcadin cough syrup with codeine.
Niger State Command Commander Haruna Kvetishe said illicit drugs destined for pharmacies in Abuja were purchased in Onitsha, Anambra State, and redirected to the parking lot of Morada Market in Sulja to avoid security checks in Abuja.
The 27-year-old man, Ezema Sunday, who was supposed to receive the shipment, was also arrested on Tuesday, April 7, 2021, along with another suspect, Nehemiah Isa, who was detained with 1.3 kg of cannabis and 7 grams of nitrazepam.
