Female POS operator drives out two armed thieves in Edo
A female merchant operator boldly expropriated two armed robbers who were trying to take money from her in Uhogwe, in the Ovia local government area, northeast of Edo State.
It turned out that the suspects, Andrew Adubu and Destiny Olu, posing as customers, came to a POS store located at the entrance to the IDP camp on Monday 28 December and asked to withdraw $ 200,000 from their account. …
When a female operator inserted her ATM card into a POS terminal, the thugs pulled out a local pistol and ordered her to give them money and her cell phones.
However, the woman hit the man pointing the gun at her, and the weapon fell out of his hand. He then raised the alarm, which attracted the attention of the security personnel stationed in the IDP camp, who, in turn, promptly responded and arrested the suspects.
After questioning, the suspects confessed that they were trying to raise money for their family’s needs during the Christmas and New Years celebrations.
A local-made pistol, three cartridges and an unregistered motorcycle were seized from the suspects.
A spokesman for Chidi Nwabuzor State Police Command, who confirmed the incident, asked the public for effective cooperation.
Nwabuzor added that police were deployed in strategic positions across the state to combat criminal elements.
