FG plans to postpone school reopening date to January 18

The federal government is considering postponing the January 18 school reopening date due to an increase in COVID cases.

In December, the President’s COVID-19 Task Force asked the country’s schools to remain closed until January 18, 2021.

But in a briefing on Monday, Education Minister Adamu Adamu said there were concerns about the expected date.

“This is not sacred (the school’s opening date is January 18). When we decided that date, it was just the purpose of what we were working on, ”he said.

“Of course, we are watching this and watching what is happening in the company, and therefore it should be a subject of constant monitoring. At the PTF meeting today, we looked at the growing numbers again and wondered if we should take another look.

“The resumption on January 18, we are considering it, we will see again … tomorrow the ministry will resume.”

Nigeria surpassed 100,000 COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
