Suspected gunmen killed four militants in the village of Rafin Tukurva, near Dogon Dawa, in the Birnin Gwari local government area in Kaduna state on Tuesday afternoon, May 11.

The Daily Trust reported that the vigilantes were ambushed at 2 p.m. on their way to Rafin Tukurva after receiving a distress signal from villagers that gunmen had attacked the area to disturb the cows.

Ibrahim Hassan, a resident of the community, told the publication that militants killed Aliya Ibrahim, the highly popular secretary of a vigilante group in Dogon Dawa, while others, Barau Khalid, Alhaji Bukar and Malam Dawda, died in hospital from gunshot wounds.

Hasan said that Aliya, Barau and Bukar were buried together, while Daouda was later buried in the evening when his body was removed from the hospital where he died.
