Governor El Rufai signed a $ 246 billion budget law
Kaduna State Governor Nasir El Rufai signed a $ 246 billion budget for 2021 on Wednesday after House of Assembly approval.
On October 4, 2020, the governor submitted $ 237.52 billion as an estimate of the 2021 budget, with 66% of the budget allocated to capital spending to support government commitments to education, health, infrastructure and agricultural development while 34% were directed to operating expenses.
But after about two months of deliberation, the House of Assembly increased the budget proposal to NN 246 billion.
Speaking shortly after the signing of the budget bill at Sir Kashim Ibrahim’s House of Government, Kaduna in the state capital, El Rufai pledged to deliver on the 2021 budget to deliver on government promises and support the 98% capital budget recorded in 2019.
The Governor also pledged to continue the colossal progress in infrastructure development recorded in 2020, thanking the House of State Assembly for consistently approving the state budget well before the end of last year.
“Today I am honored to sign the Kaduna State Government’s budget for 2021, approved by the Kaduna State Assembly House. I thank the House of Assembly for consistently approving next year’s budget well before the end of the previous fiscal year.“He said.
El Rufai said the 2021 budget will begin on January 1, 2021, adding that “This is an unprecedented result. We are the only government that has mandatorily introduced its budget on January 1st for many years.
