Governor Hortom Calls For Investigation Of Teen Gang Rape In Benue
Benue Governor Samuel Hortom on Tuesday asked security officials to investigate the reported gang rape of a teenage girl by four young men in the Obi local government area of the state and bring those responsible to justice.
The governor, who said this in a press release issued by his chief spokesman Terver Akase on Tuesday, condemned the incident and called it barbaric, inhuman and deplorable.
He stressed that the arrest and prosecution of criminals will serve as a deterrent for people who are involved in infecting children and other crimes.
The governor has instructed the Obi local government president and the traditional rulers of the area to work with security agencies to track down rape suspects and bring them to justice.
Encourage parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s movements and report any rape to security personnel.
