Two men who robbed people of their valuables were beaten and burned by residents of Benin City, Edo.
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, November 3, near the Okah market, on Igodefeyi Street, along Seokponba Street, in Benin City.
It was established that the suspected robbers were beaten with truncheons and other dangerous weapons and then set on fire by crowds, mostly young people, presumably from the communities of Ighodefeyi and Upper Sokponba.
According to an eyewitness, the suspects went out early in the morning and began to rob people and expropriate their valuables before they got lucky.
“They went out early in the morning and robbed the market women who went to the market and other early risers who went to their places of work. Robberies occur regularly in the Seokponba Road area, as three police stations along the road, namely San Salvatore, Ugbegun and Idogbo, have been burned and destroyed. There is not a single police post or any other security agency, ”said an eyewitness.
