Heavy rains and thunderstorms disperse Yoruba agitators in Osogbo
Heavy rain and wind dispersed Yoruba agitators at the famed Nelson Mandela Freedom Park on Saturday afternoon through the old garage district of Osogbo, the capital of Osun, according to The Nation.
The Nation reports that dozens of Yoruba agitators stormed the streets of Osogbo on Saturday after changing where the agitators were supposed to gather due to the strong presence of security forces.
One of the main agitators of the Yoruba nation, Sunday Adeyemo, commonly known as Sunday Igboho, arrived in Osogbo from Oyo State at 1:40 pm and headed straight for the campaign site at Nelson Mandela Osogbo Freedom Park.
Igboho arrived at the scene at 14.01 to address the agitators.
He was reaching out to shakers when the sunny, scorching weather turned overcast at 2:25 pm.
He hurriedly addressed his supporters while standing on the roof of the car. When other leaders wanted to talk to the campaigners, it started raining heavily, driving supporters away from the headquarters.
While it was raining, due to the thunderstorm, the fans were unable to gather, so they had to run for cover.
It is still raining at the time of this report.
