Hisba confiscated 308 bottles of various alcoholic beverages

Hisbah command in Jigawa State said it had confiscated 308 bottles of various alcoholic beverages in the local government area of Gumel State.

This was reported to the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) in Dutse on Saturday by Hisba commander Malam Ibrahim Dahiru.

Dahiru said the items were confiscated during an inspection trip by his agents at a hotel in the area around 10 a.m. Friday.

“Our agents broke into a hotel in Gumel City on Gujungu Road, where we were able to confiscate 308 bottles of beer in stock.

“But we could not catch anyone, as those present rushed to climb when they saw our people.

“I am using this tool to remind people that beer consumption is still prohibited in all parts of Jigawa and Hisbah will continue to use it,” Dahiru said.

However, he explained that no arrests were made during the operation as the suspected owners and users fled upon seeing the agents.

The commander added that the confiscated drinks were handed over to the local police for further intervention.

Beer consumption is still banned in all parts of the state, he said.

Dahiru added that the command will continue to ensure that people stop committing immoral acts and other vices that can destroy society.
