I did not become President of the Senate in 2015 because it was not God’s time – Ahmad Laban
Ahmad Lawan, President of the Senate, explained why he was not elected in 2015.

Citizen number three, who spoke to reporters on his 62nd birthday in Abuja on Tuesday, January 12, said he never held the position because now is not God’s time.
Laban also said he worked with former Senate President Bukola Saraki for the benefit of the Nigerians despite the defeat.
He said;
“In 2015, you will remember when I wanted to be president of the Senate, and God in his wisdom decided: no. You won’t be there. Someone else will be. Then, of course, Senator Saraki became the President of the Senate.
“In god we trust. We worked together in the Senate for the good of our people, and when in 2019 God said it was time, you know what? 109 senators have the same mentality, the same ability to improve Nigeria, work with the executive branch to improve our country. “
Laban also said that the Senate under his leadership and the national assembly as a whole have done their job very well.
He added;
“This is an opportunity for me to thank the very respected senators for always being very patriotic, to ensure that in the last year and a half of our tenure in the Senate, the Senate has brought so many good things into the system.”
