Ibrahim Attahiru issues a 48-hour ultimatum to the troops to return Mars and other objects.
The Chief of Staff of the Army (COAS) General Ibrahim Attahiru issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian army, Operation Lafiya Dole, to clean up Mars’s local government area in Borno state, which was recently attacked and taken over by the Boko Haram sect.
He also ordered the troops to clear Cyrene, Cyrene, Vulgo, the Chikingudo community on Mars, and Ngala LGA in the state.
Attahiru delivered an ultimatum on Sunday, addressing the Nigerian Army’s 9th supercamp, Dikwa.
He said: “The areas around Mars, Chikingdu, Vulgo Kirenova and Kirta should be cleared within the next 48 hours.
“You have to make sure you get all the support you need for this very difficult task.
“I just spoke with the theater commander and the general in command of the 7th division, you must not disappoint these people. Come back and do what is necessary, and I’ll be right behind you.
“You are aware of the recent attack on Dikwa and Mars, you must not let this happen again, chase them and free these bastards,” Attahiru said.
Praising the efforts of the troops in the fight against Boko Haram, COAS said, “I am here to welcome President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Bukhari. I spoke with your commanders and we will provide you with the equipment and weapons you need to end this war.
“We will also tackle the problem of excessive theater stays. No more over-staying problems. “
