ICPC Investigates Hidden COVID19 Palliatives Found In Several States
Palliatives against COVID-19, hidden in several states, later discovered by Nigerians, will now be investigated by the Independent Commission against Corruption and Other Related Crimes (ICPC).
The commission says it is investigating the reasons for storing palliative materials in warehouses across the country that were supposed to be distributed to poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
In a statement released today Oct. 27, ICPC said that due to recent looting at some of the warehouses where palliatives were stored, the commission is investigating the sources of items stolen from palliative care warehouses, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and private homes to identify Whether the looted property was personally purchased, purchased by the government, donated by CACOVID, or is empowerment materials that are part of the federal government’s electoral projects initiative.
The statement also said the Commission will also strengthen monitoring of the ministries, departments and agencies (MDA) responsible for purchasing and distributing COVID-19 palliative care materials, and will publish its findings in due course.
