IGP Adamu advises police officers to use firearms when their lives are in danger

Police Inspector General Mohammed Adamu has instructed police officers to use firearms if they feel their lives are in danger. He said this in a video posted on the ChannelsTV website on Twitter.

He asked: “Does it make sense to kill an officer with a hand?”

The order states that an officer can use a firearm if a person tries to attack him with a pistol, stick, machete, or other dangerous weapon. And anyone who commits a crime punishable by 7 years in prison or death can be shot.

However, the law provided that the claim could be appealed in court, where the court would determine whether the officer was really in danger.

Read it below and you will see an attached clip for the IGP announcement.
