IMO Government regrets the killing of IMSU student

The Imo State government broke its silence following the killing of student Ms. Devine Nwaneri of Imo State University.

On Wednesday, the government congratulated the student’s family on the sad incident.

Nvaneri was a first year student at Imo State University who was killed by a stray bullet on April 24.

State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Declan Emelumba, who hosted the family at his office in Owerri, called his death “a huge loss.”

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that a 22-year-old ABSU soil science student was injured by a stray bullet after being accidentally shot by security personnel in front of the Owerri State Government House.

Emelumba assured the family that the state government would take all necessary steps to provide them with the assistance they needed.

He added that the state government has taken convincing steps in collaboration with security agencies to restore peace to the state and ensure the safety of life and property.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to the welfare and safety of the state’s residents.

“We feel your pain very deeply and assure you that the government will ease your pain as much as possible. Please take it easy.

“Our lovely Governor Nadezhda Uzodimma is working with the security forces and calm is gradually being restored in the heart of the East,” he said.

In his response, the deceased’s father, Harrison Nwaneri, a pastor based in Lagos, thanked the commissioner for what he called the “swift intervention” of the state government.

She commended the efforts of the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Nnamdi Anyaehi, who said she was in the hospital to facilitate treatment before she surrendered to the Federal Medical Center in Owerri.

He also expressed satisfaction with the efforts made by the state government to alleviate the suffering of the family.

“I am deeply saddened, but at the same time delighted with the government’s efforts to alleviate our pain during this difficult time.”

Nwaneri said Divine will be buried on Friday, May 14, in their village of Obollo, in the Isiala Mbano local government area of ​​the state.
