INTERRUPTION: Road impasse, #EndSARS protesters shut down Ivo Road
Ivo Road in Ibadan was blocked by EndSARS protesters on Tuesday morning, resulting in severe traffic jams.
Protesters protest against police brutality, extrajudicial killings and extortion.
It became known that the protesters arrived on the street a few minutes later at 09:00.
According to the passenger, many travelers get stuck in traffic.
One of the protesters, simply named Akande, said: “This is our right to protest. We apologize to the people affected by the stall, but we expect them to be a part of us. They are also exploited by the police when traveling. ”
On Tuesday, Nigerians continued their protests to pressure the federal government to follow the dissolution of the Anti-Robbery Task Force.
Police Inspector General Adamu Mohammed announced the disbandment of FSARS on Sunday following massive protests.
Protesters blocked a highway in Lagos on Monday, demanding that President Major General Muhammadu Bukhari (retired) speak with them.
Bukhari on Monday insisted that “the dissolution of SARS is only the first step in our commitment to comprehensive police reforms.”
“The goal of law enforcement and police is to ensure the safety of the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians,” he said.
But protesters have pledged to maintain high pressure, saying previous promises to dissolve the unity and punish the officers responsible for the violations have not been met.
