Ise-Iyamu for the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which deprives him of his candidacy
The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for the 2020 Edo governorate election on September 19, Mr. Osagi Ise-Iyamu, is appealing a High Court ruling overturning his candidacy, along with his partner Gani Odu.
Igbere TV reported that the Edo High Court, meeting on Wednesday in Benin City, disqualified APC candidates for alleged violations contained in documents submitted to INEC by deputy governor candidate Gani Odu.
In a statement sent to Igbere TV by the Edo APC campaign in response to the ruling, Ise-Iyamu called the ruling “unfortunate and completely wrong.”
“I have already instructed my lawyer to appeal the verdict, as I am convinced that the Court of Appeal will impartially consider the facts presented to the court and will make a fair decision in accordance with the law,” he said.
He also called on his supporters inside and outside the state to remain calm and law abiding, expressing confidence that justice will prevail.
