“It’s amazing that ASUU hasn’t attended class for so long,” President Bukhari talks about the strike.
President Muhammadu Bukhari on Tuesday, December 8, said it was surprising that members of the Academic Staff Universities Union (ASUU) have not attended classes for so long and have not yet agreed to cancel the strike.
The union went on strike in March this year asking for more funding for public universities and a renegotiation of the 2009 FG / ASUU agreement, among other things. The union is still on strike.
The President expressed regret about this development during a meeting with governors of 36 states at the presidential mansion on Tuesday.
A statement released by his public relations assistant Garba Shehu after the meeting quoted the president as saying.
The teachers did not take into account the main problems facing the country.
The government has given something. The problem is that they refused to address the issue of the whole country.
The Minister of Labor is working on this. It’s amazing how ASUU hasn’t attended classes for so long. Our elite must understand the problems the country is facing ”
