Jigawa Hisbah arrests 47 people for immorality and seizes 745 bottles of beer

Jigawa State Hisbah staff say they took 47 people into custody, including 16 women arrested for immorality.

Malam Ibrahim Dahiru, commander of the Hisbah in the state, told NAN during an interview with Dutse on Wednesday.

The commander said about 16 suspected prostitutes were arrested following a series of raids on breweries, brothels and other black spots in eleven areas of the state’s local government.

He explained that around 745 bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages were confiscated during the raid which was conducted between 11 October. 13 and 27.

The suspects, he said, were arrested for allegedly drinking beer, advocating for prostitutes and other immoral acts.

He said the suspects were turned over to police for further action.

He said alcohol consumption remained prohibited in the state and reiterated the council’s willingness to continue to fight against all forms of immoral acts.

Dahiru has enjoined residents of the state, especially young people, to desist from engaging in vices and immoral acts capable of destroying their future and promoting social decay.

He also commended the residents of the state for their support and cooperation with the council to enable it to perform its duties effectively.
