Kidnapped journalist Adamawa gains freedom after paying ransom

According to Sahara Reporters, Ahmad Isa Mbamba, the husband of recently abducted journalist Amra Ahmed Diski in Adamawa state, has confirmed his wife’s release.

Mbamba confirmed on a verified WhatsApp platform by staff at the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) that his wife Amra, who had been imprisoned for eight days, had regained her freedom.

Amra, nursing mother and ABC news editor Yola, was abducted on Tuesday night, May 4, 2021, from her residence in Yola, the state capital.

Amra’s release brought joy and happiness to her colleagues, family, and supporters, who prayed for her safe return from the day of her abduction.

Mbamba broke the news at around 1:32 am Wednesday night via ABC, the WhatsApp platform for Yola employees.

He wrote: “Alhamdulillah. Amra regained her freedom and was reunited with her family. In particular, she returned safe and sound. We sincerely thank all colleagues for their care and prayers. “

A source close to the family later told Sahara Reporter that the ransom was paid to secure Amra’s release, but she declined to name the amount.
