A police investigation revealed that Abubakar is a member and gunsmith of a gang that carried out several kidnappings for ransom on the Lokoja-Abuja / Abuja-Kaduna highway and other major highways in the north-central states of the country.
“Interestingly, this group carried out the kidnapping of 30-year-old Mohammed Ahmad, aka CONFIRM ‘m’, the abduction boss and leader of another notorious abduction group in the north of the center, when he came to their forest hideout to sell real ammunition to the group.
“He was held and shot in the arm until members of his gang paid a ransom of one million five hundred fifty-five thousand naira (NZ $ 1,555,000.00) just for his release. Five AK47 assault rifles, five magazines and 120 AK47 rounds were found by Abubakar Umaru in his hideout in the forest.
