According to a report by SaharaReporters, the wife of the secretary of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) in Sokoto state, Pastor Oro Yakubu, who was kidnapped by bandits on Wednesday, was released.

It was learned that the bandits released the pastor’s wife after receiving a ransom of 2.5 million N.

SaharaReporters earlier today reported that gunmen kidnapped the wife of the secretary of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) in Sokoto state, Oro Yakubu.

She was said to have been kidnapped on the way from Lambar Bakura to Lambar Tureta on her way to Sokoto from Tsafe.

The bandits contacted the family, asking for N30 million which was negotiated up to N2.5 million.

A church member who invoked anonymity said: “Yes, a $ 2.5 million ransom was paid, but the exciting thing is that Mom is back with us.

“Praise God for his mercy, grace and favor, we are grateful to God for his intervention”, He said.

Another elated churchmate posted on a WhatsApp platform “The wife of the ECWA secretariat Sokoto DCC has been released, she has already reunited with her family.”
