Lagos public schools order not to open on Monday
The rise in coronavirus cases has forced the Lagos state government to order schools not to reopen on Monday, January 4, 2021.

The government said it will soon announce a new reopening date for public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.
This was announced on Sunday by the head of the public relations department of the Lagos Ministry of Education, Kayode Abayomi. He clarified that schools in the state will not reopen on Monday, January 4, 2021, as previously announced. The second wave of COVID-19 will be the determining factor for the opening of schools in the state, he said.
He said: “Please remember that the Ministry of Education previously announced January 4 as the resumption date for the 2020/2021 second semester academic session, but this has since been canceled by a turn of events due to the recent waves of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Following the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, the governor announced the indefinite closure of all schools. We therefore inform you that a new renewal date will be announced as soon as possible. ”
