LASTMA investigates ₦ 11,300 extortion allegations – CEO
The Director General of the Lagos State Traffic Administration (LASTMA), Mr Olajide Odujoye, said the agency is investigating an alleged extortion complaint contained in a viral Facebook post made by a Lagos motorist accusing some LASTMA officials of extorting 11,300 N11 from him … in one of the zone teams in Agege.
Oduyoye assured that the photographic evidence provided by the applicant would be examined and any guilty officer would be forced to face the consequences in accordance with the existing civil service regulations, as indicated.
While urging members of the public to always submit their complaints with evidence against corrupt officials, the Director General nevertheless noted that there are many LASTMA officials who are selflessly, conscientiously and professionally performing their duties, as noted during LASTMA CONNECT. the program was broadcast on Traffic Radio and many Lagosians praised the good work of the traffic control staff.
He also advised all road users in Lagos to abide by traffic rules so as not to break the law, noting that some offenders like to offer bribes to transport personnel to avoid prosecution, not realizing that the law does not approve of both the donor and the recipient.
