Lekki Massacre: Forensic Analysis Confirms the Authenticity of Murder Videos
A report released Thursday by the Digital Forensic Science Lab found open source evidence contradicted those denials.
The forensic analysis of video footage showing the killing of protesters at the Lecca toll station in Lagos on Tuesday is credible, even though the Nigerian military classifies the reports as false and defense headquarters claims to have been falsified.
According to HumAngle, a report released Thursday by the Digital Forensics Laboratory found open source evidence contradicted those denials.

Several videos confirm the whereabouts and presence of Nigerian soldiers at Lekki Toll Plaza, a large toll concession in southern Lagos, said Jean Le Roux, a laboratory scientist in southern Africa.
“The video posted on Twitter shows Nigerian soldiers in a plaza where they appear to be approaching peaceful demonstrators and opening fire. The next video shows wounded civilians being taken away from the same place. “

Using four videos, DFRLab determined the geographic location of the shooting at the toll station, “despite denials by the Nigerian military.”
“Another video shows Nigerian army soldiers approaching the demonstrators, where they stood behind plastic barriers. The soldiers approached the group and opened fire. There is no warning in the video. The bursts of shots indicate that many of the shots seen and heard here were fired into the air, ”he said.

He confirmed that the video was filmed near the toll station and on the other side of the canal, “looking north, from the east side of the toll station, which suggests that the protesters were approached by law enforcement officers from both the east and west. as some witnesses believe. “
“The video also identified injured protesters on the same stage. The author of the video, uploaded to Twitter on October 20, shows the wounded and bloody demonstrators, and the perpetrator claims they were killed by soldiers. As you can see in the video, you can see the garage just south of the toll station, ”continued DFRLab.
“Another video taken in front of the toll booth showed several wounded demonstrators being taken away in the presence of disguised soldiers, presumably the same soldiers we saw in the second video above. At least two demonstrators were taken away, and during the video, a third is visible on the ground, ”he added.
The latest video geolocated the soldiers at the southern end of the east end of the highway exit.
“Despite denials by the Nigerian military, open source data link the presence of Nigerian soldiers at the toll station in Lekki at the same time that the first reports of shooting were received,” the organization said.
“The video also showed demonstrators in Lekki who had been demonstrating peacefully for the previous 11 days, bloodied and wounded in the presence of these soldiers.”
According to Amnesty International, a field investigation found that at least 10 people were killed when armed Nigerian army officials opened fire on protesters.
“These executions are clearly tantamount to extrajudicial execution. An immediate investigation must be carried out and suspects must be brought to justice through a fair trial. The authorities must ensure that victims and their families have access to justice and effective remedies, ”he said.
