Looting: Fintiri announces 24-hour curfew in Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Adamawa state.
This comes after vandalism against government property by thugs raiding warehouses to collect COVID-19 palliatives.

Fintiri, in a statewide broadcast, said the government had taken precautions following the actions of “some misguided elements” that broke into warehouses and looted COVID-19 palliatives.

On Sunday, The PUNCH reported on the looting of a government warehouse in Kwana Wai by angry residents who later broke into central stores located in Barkin Kogi and looted food.

The governor said: “There have been reports of deaths from the crush and we cannot afford to let anyone lose their lives.

“We must also avoid a scenario where security personnel are accused of dying without being able to loot and destroy government property.
