Man arrested for possession and circulation of counterfeit naira banknotes in Adamawa state

The Adamawa State Police Department arrested a 26-year-old man, Eson Fatgoel, who was distributing and spending counterfeit naira bills in the state.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday 31 October by police officers from the Numan department in the Numan local government area.

Command spokesman DSP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest on Sunday, November 1, said Fatgoel had spent counterfeit bills in exchange for goods and services in Guyuk and Lafia local government areas.

“Research has shown that counterfeit banknotes are still in circulation in these regions. The public, especially traders, must watch the trade in order not to become a victim, ”Nguroje said.
