Man asks forgiveness for pregnant 17-year-old daughter

The 36-year-old man admitted that he became pregnant with his daughter.

The man, named Peter Moses, confessed before the magistrates’ court in Åre that he raped his daughter and became pregnant.

Moses confessed when he was charged with two counts of illegal sex. He allegedly committed the crime between November 2020 and January 2021 at the Asevele Corede camp via Ore in the Odigbo local government area in Ondo state.

The indictment states: “That you, Peter Moses, between November 2020 and January 2021 in the Acevele Corede camp via Ruda in the Ore Trunk District, had illegal sex with Peter Patience, 17 years old and therefore committed a crime contrary to subsection ( 1) article 31 and punishable in accordance with subsection (2) of article 31 of part 3 of the Law on the Rights of the Child of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of 2003.…

“That you, Peter Moses, in the same period, time and place in the aforementioned judicial district, raped your daughter by having sex with her, and caused her a four-month pregnancy, thereby committing a violation of Article 32 subparagraph (2) and punishable by in accordance with subparagraph 2 of article 32 of part 3 of the Law on the Rights of the Child of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of 2003 “.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Jimo Amuda, told the court that the police had investigated the matter accordingly. He asked the court to provide updated information to enable the police to complete the investigation and seek legal advice from the Ministry of Justice.

The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to two favorite charges against him, but asked the court to mitigate the justice by mercy. The presiding judge F.O. Omofolarin ordered her pre-trial detention in a correctional facility pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice and updated the case file by February 21 for reference.
