May God punish them – Ganduje curses the bandits for killing 16 Kano residents on the Abuja-Kaduna highway
At least 16 travelers and residents of the Dambatta local government area in Kano State died after being killed by gunmen.
According to the Sahara Reporter, the victims were killed on Wednesday on the Abuja-Kaduna motorway as they were returning to Kano from a business trip to Abuja.
Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje confirmed the incident in a statement from his spokesman Abba Anwar on Thursday.
The governor described the murder as devastating and disappointing.
The statement reads: “We were shocked by the bad news of the deaths of 16 indigenous people in Dambatta on the Abuja-Kaduna highway from Abuja to Kano following an attack by unidentified gunmen.
“The news is terrifying and disappointing. We feel sorry for the families of the victims, the residents of Dambatta local government and the residents of Kano State.
“May Allah accept their martyrdom and punish all those guilty of this monstrous deed. There is nothing more shocking than this. We urge people to pray fervently for rested souls. And we pray that Allah will give their families a fortress so that they will suffer a significant loss.
“On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, I congratulate the families of the victims and the local government in Dambatta on this tragedy. May Allah forgive all their misdeeds and reward their good deeds. “
