Meet Nonye Soludo, the next First Lady of Anambra

True to its nickname (Light of the Nation), the state of Anambra is currently radiating brilliant rays of light and happiness. The emergence of a new governor has a way of inspiring people to greater heights of joy. However, this time there is something more as the winner of the just-concluded government elections, prof. Chukwuma Soludo, is obviously a people’s treasure.

The widespread excitement that accompanied the announcement of Soludo’s victory can be explained through different lenses. Soludo is the second governor of the Nigerian state to have served as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Interestingly, some people are much more interested in the profile of the incoming First Lady than in the details and evolution of Soludo’s career.

For starters, Soludo’s wife’s name is Nonye. She is 51 years old and indigenous to Aguata LGA of Anambra. It has what could be described as above-average educational qualifications: a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Masters in Accounting and Finance from the University of Westminster, London.

Although Nonye is not as enterprising as her husband, she is far from what the world calls a domestic wife. He is said to be the CEO of Healthy Living Foods Ltd, the institution behind the best known Royal Foods.

Nonye is also believed to have a respectable stake in the real estate business. He is the leading figure in Charles Frances’ private estate. So even after giving birth to six children for Soludo, Nonye is still standing.

It can only be said that dragons marry dragons and tigers marry tigers. Soludo and Nonye are obviously a couple created in the skies. Together, they went from being the Central Bank family to being the number one family in Anambra.
