Muhammad Kiru: Kano Will Cancel Third Semester Unless Private Schools Reduce Tuition
Kano State Commissioner for Education Muhammad Kiru on Thursday threatened to cancel the state’s third term unless private school owners cut their tuition by at least 25% by November 1, 2020.
Public Relations Director Aliya Yusuf said in a statement that the state will have no choice but to cancel the third term of the 2019/2020 academic session if the owners fail to comply with the state government directive.
The statement explains that the ministry’s decision was necessary given the continued difficult economic situation following the blockade due to the COVID-19 threat, which affected both the socio-economic situation of the community.
Recall that the Kano state government has ordered the reopening of private and public schools from October 11, 2020 after more than six months of closure due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the resume calendar, the first three weeks will be used for the second semester exam, and the academic session for the third quarter of 2019/2020 will start after that.
