“My heart belongs to all the victims of the Lekki shooting” – Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of Nigeria, finally spoke after the Nigerian army opened fire on unarmed protesters outside the toll collection point in Lekki on Tuesday 20 October.

In a post on social media, the vice president said he truly loves all the victims of the accident, police officers and others who have died in recent days in Lagos and other parts of the country.

His post reads;

“My heart belongs to all the victims of the Lekki shooting, as well as the police officers and all other men and women who have died in the past few days in different parts of Lagos and other states.

I spoke to some of those who were in the hospital. The pain of these terrible events is felt in our cities, and some of the losses are irreparable, but we can achieve justice for them all. I am with Lagos and all the other states affected by these difficult times.

We pray that we will never see these tragedies repeated in Jesus name. God bless you all.
