The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) is committed to partnering with Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) to provide its employees with affordable post-retirement housing as part of an effort to improve their post-retirement lives. The post-retirement housing program targets NAF Seniority Cadres (NCO).

The collaboration was interrupted today, November 2, 2020, by Chief of Aviation Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sadik Abubarkar, when he had FHFL CEO and Chief Executive Officer (MD / CEO) Mr. Femi Adevole and members of his management team at headquarters. Speaking during the visit, CAS, expressing its delight that aviators and pilots will benefit from the new federal government initiative, thanked MD FHFL for his very comprehensive information on the scheme. Aviation Marshal Abubabkar also said that he is very excited because the initiative will raise the morale of non-commissioned officers, including technicians, regimental and special personnel, who work 24 hours a day in very difficult conditions to provide aircraft maintenance. Going further, CAS advised that the flight officer commanders who are field commanders of non-commissioned officers were specially invited to participate in the presentation and were to spread the news to potential beneficiaries in their teams. It also has a safety aspect, as such people are less likely to be mobilized to commit criminal acts. This will go a long way in reducing our security concerns, ”he added. CAS has promised to immediately form a team that will liaise with FHFL management to oversee the implementation of the program.

FHFL Managing Director Mr. Femi Adevole said in his presentation that the main purpose of FHLFL is to promote housing finance structures available to low-income Nigerians. He said the current funding program includes 3,613 homes under construction in 5 locations and a commitment to fund an additional 12,520 homes, representing over $ 60 billion in financial support for affordable homes. He also said that FHFL is working to make affordable housing possible by developing and offering financial solutions for affordable housing developers and people who will buy or rent the homes they are building. According to him, a typical goal is people who earn between 600,000 and 1,800-1.2 million US dollars a year.

Introducing the company’s profile highlights, MD said FHFL, incorporated in 2017, started operations in 2018 and is the largest real estate fund in Sub-Saharan Africa focused on affordable housing for Nigerians. in a low-income group. He added that the FHF is a social housing initiative promoted by the federal government of Nigeria through its Social Intervention Program (SIP) with initial input from the Federal Ministry of Finance and the State Investment Authority of Nigeria. It notes that the company intends to invest up to N 1.3 trillion (US $ 3 billion) in the development of 500,000 homes for low-income workers and create up to 1.5 million jobs by 2023.

It should be remembered that in 2016, Air Force Marshal Sadik Abubakar initiated a post-retirement housing project known as the NAF Eagle Estate for NCOs to fill a gap in previous similar schemes that excluded personnel from SNCO cadres. The estate, located in the Bwari District Council in Abuja, accommodates 905 3-bedroom duplex units with terraces, 3-bedroom bungalows and detached 3-bedroom bungalows. It is planned to expand the project to other cities such as Enugu, Kaduna and Lagos.
