NECO reschedules exams during #EndSARS protests

The National Examination Board (NECO) has been forced to reschedule Paper I’s computer science practical work from Monday, October 19, 2020, to November 16.

In a statement, NECO’s head of information and public affairs, Aziz Sani, the council blamed the #ENDSARS protest decision, which blocked free traffic at the entrance to Benin City, the capital of Edo state.

The statement reads: “This is to inform the general public and candidates, in particular, that the National Examination Board (NECO) has been forced to reschedule Paper I’s computer science research work until Monday, October 19, 2020 from 10:00 to 13:00 This document will now be reviewed on Monday 16 November 2020 from 10:00 to 13:00.

This unexpected incident was triggered by a protest by ENDSARS, which blocked free traffic at the entrance to the city of Benin.

“The NECO truck had left the takeoff site long before that two days earlier to deliver exam materials to some states, and has since been stuck in the block.

“The Council wants to reassure all stakeholders and the general public that the affected expertise has been restored intact and stored in the NECO repository.

“While regretting the inconvenience this timetable change may cause to our esteemed stakeholders, the Board has nevertheless taken this decision to maintain the integrity and security of its review procedures for smooth review by the Board. “.
