Nigeria has the largest number of poor people in the world – Governor El Rufai

Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El Rufai said Nigeria has the largest number of poor people in the world.

This was announced by Governor El Rufai during the launch of the state social protection policy on Tuesday, February 23rd.

According to him;

“Nigeria is going through difficult times. We have more poor people than any other country in the world. However, whenever a program is designed to help the poor and the vulnerable, we resort to a time-slot mentality where important people are given temporary places instead of targeting the poor and vulnerable who deserve it. This is unfortunate. We need to abandon the slot machine mentality and use our social book to offer targeted support to those who really need it.

I call on all my colleagues, the political elite, to abandon the “slot” mentality and use the social register so that programs aimed at the most vulnerable really go to the poor and vulnerable. When we think of the poor and the vulnerable, we must all remember that the well-being of each of us is linked to the well-being of all of us. ”
