Nigerian soldier sentenced to death for killing officer (photos)
The military tribunal found the soldier guilty of murder.
The soldier, identified as Adzunna Maduabuchi, is now sentenced to death by firing squad for the murder of his unit’s assistant, Lieutenant Babakak Ngorgi.

A soldier who sat before a military tribunal in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, was charged with shooting Lieutenant Ngorgi at close range in July 2020 at the local government of Bama Borno state for refusing to grant him a social assistance pass.
He was found guilty during a trial held in the Maimalari canton, Maiduguri, on Tuesday 12 January.
Four other soldiers, charged with manslaughter, were also sentenced to several years in prison. Sergeant Sani Isaya was sentenced to four years in prison, and Bidemi Fabiyi was sentenced to two years.
Private Musa Bala and Private Abdulrahid Adamu were also detained for one year each.
