Nigerians protest the opening of the Lekki motorway exit
Nigerians are planning another protest against the opening of the Lekki motorway exit
The Nigerians have decided to stage another protest against the decision of the Lagos State Court of Justice, which allows the Lekki Concession Company to take back ownership and reopen the Lekki toll collection point.
The toll booth was closed following the shooting and killing of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers and police.
The Lagos jury was divided into five of nine jury members, led by Judge Doris Okuvobi (rtd), who voted to reopen the toll station at their last meeting on Saturday.
Outraged by the jury’s decision, Nigerians have planned a protest outside the toll booth, saying the fare will remain closed until justice is restored to the victims of the Lekki shooting.
The protest action is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 7 am.
Tweeting in support of the protest, Omoele Sour said the toll station should remain closed until those responsible are brought to justice.
Social media influencer Aymojubar, who also tweeted in support of the protest, cited a quote from Emiliano Zapata, the main leader of the peasant revolution in the Mexican state of Morelos from 1910 to 1920.
Other Nigerians have also taken to social media to express their support for the protest.
@Remoja said, “Those who kill our young protesters in Lecchi can never appear in front of the panel out of conscience, history will never forget the lawless military.”
@Dannyrockie said, “We will not give up evil. We will not be stupid against our rights. We will not become cowardly overnight by doing the right thing. There are no scales of justice. There is no peace for enemies. No justice, no discovery. “
@UncleShinelz tweeted: “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes a duty. Our oppressors are not slowing down anytime soon, we must neither slow down nor calm down! #RevolutionNow #EndSARS #Lekkitollgate. “
@JGagariga said: “This toll station should never be opened, it is out of desperation to reopen the toll station where the soldiers were called to flee #LekkiMassacre, there is no excuse that the toll should be refunded, how many victims are # LekkiMassacre got justice? #EndSARS. “
