Nine people were killed during the repulsion of the Boko Haram attack on Maiduguri
Operation HADIN KAI troops killed nine Boko Haram terrorists attempting to carry out a terrorist attack on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
Soldiers confiscated a Buffalo Gun, three motorcycles, three Browning machine guns, a rocket launcher and four AK 47 assault rifles, according to Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, the Army’s public relations director.
The statement also added that “the troops of Operation HADIN KAI on Tuesday 11 May 2021 thwarted attempts by Boko Haram terrorists to attack the suburb of Maiduguri in Borno State.
“Terrorists who tried to advance from the Aldawari axis, attempting to attack vulnerable targets along the Jiddari Polo, were thwarted by valiant troops, united in cooperation with the Nigerian police, young vigilantes and hunters, leading to the indiscriminate withdrawal of the terrorists.”
He went on to say that “after the chase by the troops, the terrorists suffered heavy losses, as nine of them were neutralized, and many escaped with gunshot wounds. The terrorists seized a Buffalo Gun Truck, three motorcycles, three Browning machine guns, a rocket launcher and four AK-47 assault rifles. Other items found include an improvised explosive device, sixteen 12-volt batteries, and other items.
“The chief of staff of the army, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru praised the bravery of the soldiers and urged them to keep up with the operation.
“Members of the public are encouraged to remain calm and secure during and after the holidays.”
