No more night grazing, juvenile grazing in the southwest
National Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Livestock Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Alhaji Muhammadu Kiruwa ordered Fulani herders in the southwest to immediately stop night grazing and juvenile grazing.
Kiruva also warned herders to refrain from taking their cows to popular farms for grazing, adding that an end to the frequent quarrels between pastoralists and pastoralists is necessary.
He spoke in Akura, the capital of Ondo State, during a meeting of Miyetti Allah with some governors as part of the Governors’ Forum of Nigeria (NGF).
The MACBAN president said Governor Aqueredolu’s order was not new, but was issued two years ago, adding that governments wishing to remain in the forest reserve must be registered.
Stressing that MACBAN is a peaceful association that values peace and condemns crime in any form, the president said MACBAN will continue to work with security agencies to track down criminals.
Southwest Region President MACBAN said the association stood ready to abide by government rules and regulations, saying Governor Akeredolu never asked Fulani to leave Ondo State but to register if they illegally occupy the state forest reserve.
He expressed his readiness to support governors and security agencies in bringing to justice criminals disguised as pastors.
