Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki dismissed the state’s executive council on Wednesday.

The governor, who announced the dissolution at a farewell meeting of the executive council at Government House in Benin City, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing councilors for their selfless service to the state.

Obaseki said, “Since I became governor, I have not fired any commissioner, but rather, they fired me by leaving my office. In government, the core values ​​of truth, justice and honesty are important. ”

Obaseki urged former members of his cabinet to continue to work and support his administration.

Meanwhile, Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, will be sworn in for a second term today (Thursday).

This is stated in a statement by the special adviser to the governor for media and communications strategy, Cruso Osagi in Benin on Wednesday.

He said: “The inauguration / inauguration ceremony of Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu will take place on Thursday, November 12th at Samuel Ogbemoudia Stadium from 11:00 to 13:00.

“Due to the prevailing realities of the coronavirus pandemic, we only invited 750 guests to the venue.

“The inauguration is strictly by invitation, as the crowd control measures have been taken in accordance with government directives to control the spread of the coronavirus.

“However, parties will be held in 18 local government districts to celebrate the event. Party members should also meet at parish level to celebrate this event. ”
