Pastor Adeboye: The Lekki massacre could complicate matters
The ransomed overseer general of Nigeria’s Christian Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, warned that firing #EndSARS protesters by soldiers on Tuesday outside a toll station in Lekki could worsen the situation in the country, Igbere TV reported.
He said this in a statement on Wednesday.
“I strongly condemn the attacks by the Nigerian military on unarmed youths who have peacefully protested police brutality over the past 12 days, protesting against #EndSARS,” Adeboye said.
“Condemned actions by the military can force young people into hiding from riots, making the situation unmanageable.
“I ask the federal government to thoroughly investigate the tragic events in Lekki and elsewhere in the country, and give credit to all victims, even if it forces the #EndSARS protesters to come to a general agreement to end police brutality.”
To the young men, Adeboye said, “I also appeal to young people to allow peaceful domination and to stop any action that might give the military any other reason to attack. May the peace of God come to our people, now more than ever, in the name of Jesus (amen). “
