People flee to Onitsha when a task force arrests those who are not wearing masks |
Onitsha suffered a violent agony on Tuesday when the Anambra mask team arrested Nigerians for refusing to wear masks.
The task force, made up of a combined police force, prison officers, traffic police and members of the OCHA brigade, turned against the defaulters and grouped them in a waiting mobile camera, popularly called “Black Mary”, to continue on to the mobile court.
According to Nija Cover, the accident happened at Ogbommanu, Onitsha, and elsewhere as people fled like never before. Many left the shops and fled. Some were captured and dragged to Black Maria.
Keke and the bus drivers who learned of the operation turned 180 degrees and fled.
Many others, with masks in their pockets, purse, or chin, rushed in and laced up their masks.
It really was a complete dramatic sketch where people were literally laughing out loud.
The climax of all this was that the promoter of the product, a young man, demonstrated his ability to dance down the street without a mask. The official immediately picked him up from behind and put him on the Black Maria. He called for help, but it was too late.
