A Cross River State Court sentenced the man to 22 years in prison for raping his daughter.

Emmanuel Thompson, 47, Udo, raped his daughter before being exposed by his wife. On Tuesday, he was sentenced by a family court in Cross River State in southern and southern Nigeria to 22 years in prison without a penalty for raping his 14-year-old daughter.
The arrest and harassment of Udo by the police followed a motion by the non-governmental organization (NGO) Fundamental Rights Advocates Initiative. “I want to take this opportunity to first thank the mother of the child who dared to seek help by contacting us on the Fundamental Rights Advocate Initiative. I want to thank the police who conducted a thorough investigation. ” – said after the court decision, the main partner James Ybor.
“I also want to thank the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Justice and the staff in his office for the way he conducted the prosecution, I would like to thank my staff for providing psychological support to the child throughout the trial. A trial chaired by Interim Chief Justice of Cross River State Ayo Ita previously sentenced the man in December.
