According to the Daily Trust, Kano State’s Hisbah government destroyed nearly 2,000 bottles of beer.
The council destroyed up to 1,975,000 bottles of beer, worth more than $ 200 million, confiscated in the metropolis of Kano.
Abdullahi State Governor Umar Ganduje, represented by his deputy Nasiru Gawuna during a destruction exercise in Kalebawa in the local government of Dawakin Tofa, said that alcohol and all other intoxicants that can impair mental capacity were banned by Islam.
Kano, who enforces Sharia law, has banned the use of alcohol.
Hisbah applies Sharia law.
Gawuna said that part of his administration’s efforts to improve Hisbah’s well-being by 2020 will be a pay rise and a new uniform for them.
“My administration is proud of the way you carry out your responsibilities. Therefore, I urge all stakeholders to continue to give you all the support you need to succeed, ”he said.
In his speech, Sheikh Harun Muhammad Ibn Sina, Commander-General of the Board of Directors of Kano Hisbah State, said the council had received a court order to destroy more than 20 alcohol trucks.
Ibn Sina, expressing his gratitude for the support provided to him by the state government, assured that Hisbah would not abandon his struggle against immoral actions that destroy society.
