Oyo State Police Headquarters police arrested a Yoruba actor on suspicion of scamming unsuspecting merchants using fake bank alarms in Ibadan, Oyo State.

An “actor” named Olumide Olajide was paraded along with his partner, Vemimo Adeyancu, a national graduate student in procurement and procurement at the Southwest Polytechnic Institute at the state police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.

When asked how he managed to generate fake bank alerts, Olajide said he would ask for account numbers and sellers’ names after purchasing items from them, after which he would use the information to generate their details by typing in his code. USSD bank.

After creating the recipient’s name, he said he would edit the old bank notice sent to him by his bank, change the date and amount, and send it back to the recipient. According to him, the sent fake alert will appear on the recipient’s phone as a real alert from his bank.

Olajide said, according to Punch, “I only did this three times before I was arrested. Seeing the notice, they let me leave with the merchandise paid for on a fake bank notice. I went to another store and the woman recognized me from the photo on the display in my WhatsApp and sounded the alarm. “

Wemimo added that he met with the prime suspect. He admitted that Olajide used a fake bank notice to buy certain things on one occasion when he accompanied him.

“He did it once. He did it, but I followed him that day, ”Vemimo said to Adeyancu.

Police sources said that Olajide had an app on his phone that he used to generate fake bank alerts to defraud merchants.
