The 51-year-old mother, Ogbonnaya Florence, was arrested by the police on charges of running a children’s factory in Ogun state.
The suspect was detained at her hideout after the police rescued 11 girls.
During interrogation, Ogbonnaya denied the charges. She said she was duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission to run the orphanage without a mother, but has not yet launched it as she is currently building a facility for use.
“I never went to anyone’s house and didn’t force anyone. They peacefully approach me to present their complaints. If I can help them, I will tell them that I will help you.
I have never sold children or bought children to anyone, but I have registered motherless children at home, registered childcare, registered poor home. I didn’t start this because I am creating a place to start “
Confirming his arrest, Abimbola Oyemi State Police spokesman said:
“The victims came from different parts of the southeastern states. The domes come from Abia State, some from Imo State, some from Ebony State. He collected them in the southeastern states and brought them here. for the purpose of human trafficking.
The command has launched an investigation, and he will be charged in court. “
