Police Arrested Seven For Stalking Deeper Life Student
Seven people were arrested on suspicion of stalking a Deeper Life student.
Akwa Ibom police said on Wednesday. He added that seven suspects were also brought to trial. Command spokesman Odiko McDonagh said in a statement that the court followed a petition by Deborah Archibong, mother of alleged victim Don Davis Archibong, to Police Commissioner Andrew Amiengema.
He said that the suspects, including the school principal Ndidi Solomon, 45, and four others suspended from school, were brought before the magistrates’ court, and two students were brought before the juvenile court.
The statement says: Following Ms Deborah Okezi Archibong’s appeal to Akwa-Ibom State Police Commissioner Andrew Amiengema and the Commissioner’s order to conduct a cautious investigation into the issues contained therein, 45-year-old Ms Ndidi Solomon and four other staff (members), including two students, whose actions or inaction denied existing laws, charges were brought today (Wednesday) in court. “
The Police Commissioner, noting that it is appropriate to promptly investigate these kinds of issues and allow the courts to make decisions on the merits, urged the school authorities to take the welfare and discipline of their students seriously.
The police statement refutes the positions of defense lawyers and the prosecution, who said the suspects could not be prosecuted due to the absence of a magistrate from the Uyo Magistrate Court.
