Police bans protests, rallies and processions in Lagos state

PRESS RELEASE, STATE ADMINISTRATION LAGOS.
OCTOBER 20, 2020.

With new developments in violent attacks against police, soldiers and militias, including innocent Nigerians in Lagos State, and the 24-hour curfew imposed by the Lagos State government from 16:00 today, October 20, 2020, Headquarters The Lagos State Police would like to inform the public that any form of protest, rally or procession of any kind is now prohibited in Lagos State.

In light of the above, all security forces have hired appropriate personnel to take charge and enforce the state curfew.

Likewise, commanders regret the confirmation of a fire in Orila police state around 10:00 this morning, when some of our police officers were seriously injured, and one of them, according to unconfirmed reports, was killed.

It is clear that the Endsars protest has been seized by thugs who want to overthrow the state, and the police command will resist this state of anarchy, riot and disorder with all powers under the law.

While commanders are adamant about human rights and democratic principles, the general public is being warned against observance of curfews and refraining from any act of violence in the state, as commanders will resist in general.

Thanks.
