Police officer kills his colleague in Abuja and committed suicide after #EndSARS protest controversy
The Mabushi community in Abuja was violently shaken after a police officer killed a colleague.
DailyTrust reports that the tragedy happened on Saturday.
It became known that a police officer, who was carrying special security in a residential building, shot and killed his colleague.
The tragic incident occurred around 10 a.m. after two officers fought over the #EndSARS protest.
A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Daily Trust yesterday that the officer was allegedly drunk before the accident and, upon learning of his actions, shot himself and died on the spot.
“Two officers were discussing the #EndSARS protest, then we heard the sound of a shot. Another officer was informed that he had been killed. “He killed me,” then he mumbled a few prayers, and everything fell silent, “he said.
He added that some police officers tried to intervene, but before they could do anything, the policeman also shot himself.
“After the incident, another officer told us that there was no animosity between them before. So, we believe that this is how Allah said that they would both end their lives, ”the source added.
He said that the Mabushi police station was eventually called and their remains were evacuated from the scene.
When contacted, spokeswoman for the PKT police department, ASP Mariam Yusuf, declined to comment.
